Inspired by music, literature and poetry I create bold and expressive abstract prints and paintings.
Using gestural marks to represent key aspects of the piece and to express my feelings, I usually start with charcoal and paper. An image is then built up in layers, combining marks and creating meaning. Then come the colours, first imagined and then mixed - that for me is real magic.
I enjoy pouring paints so they run together to give unexpected and exciting results. In contrast, when printmaking there is the choice of controlling or varying the process.
